What is Phaseplane?

Phaseplane is software for making sense of complex business problems. It connects the current situation, the desired outcome and the available evidence into a diagnosis you can examine and revise.

A structured account of the problem.

You bring a client’s situation, what needs to change, what stands in the way, and the material you want considered. Phaseplane brings these into one analysis, the Business Diagnostic, and shows what supports each finding, what challenges it and what remains uncertain.

When there is a specific proposal on the table, Commitment Check considers how far the supplied evidence justifies proceeding. Together they follow the way the work usually unfolds: understand what is happening, assess what the evidence supports, decide how far to commit and what to do next, and revisit the analysis when the evidence changes.

It is designed for consultants and small consultancies doing recurring analytical work for clients, and for the strategy and change leads who work alongside them. The same approach suits anyone who has to understand a complex situation before deciding what to do about it, including strategy, transformation and internal advisory teams.

Support for judgment, not a substitute for it.

Phaseplane does not replace the consultant, establish facts beyond the evidence supplied or make decisions. It does not monitor an organization automatically. You remain responsible for the client relationship, verification and the recommendations you make.

Questions

What is a Business Diagnostic?
The Business Diagnostic is the core analysis in Phaseplane. You describe the current situation, what needs to change and what stands in the way, and select the evidence it should use. It returns a structured reading: an explanation of what appears to be driving the situation, which evidence supports, contests or narrows each finding, where the evidence stops, and candidate next steps framed by who can act and who can only influence.
What is Commitment Check?
Commitment Check assesses a specific proposal. From the evidence supplied, it establishes the strongest commitment that evidence justifies, from gathering more evidence or running a pilot to a bounded or full commitment, or it defers or abstains when the evidence is not sufficient. It explains what holds that boundary in place and what would justify more. It does not approve the decision.
What material can I bring into an analysis?
The material consultants usually already have: PDF, Word, Excel, CSV and PowerPoint files, and pasted notes or transcripts. Phaseplane keeps the source of each piece of evidence and records exactly which sources an analysis used.
Can I see why Phaseplane reached a finding?
Yes. Each finding shows the evidence that supports, contests or narrows it, and the analysis says plainly when the evidence shows only a correlation or a change over time rather than a cause.
What happens when new evidence appears?
You revise the analysis and record what changed: the situation, the evidence or the interpretation. Each revision creates a new version, and earlier rounds are kept rather than silently replaced. An analysis can be exported as a report for review and discussion.
How is Phaseplane different from asking ChatGPT or Claude?
A general-purpose AI assistant writes an answer. In Phaseplane, a language model drafts parts of the analysis inside a structured system: evidence stays linked to its source, the standing of each finding is determined from recorded evidence relationships rather than from the model’s wording, facts the AI proposes must be accepted by a person before they change a decision assessment, and Commitment Check applies defined rules to decide how far the evidence goes. These controls make the result examinable. They do not make it infallible.
Does Phaseplane make decisions or monitor my organization?
No. Phaseplane supports analysis and never approves, selects or executes a decision. It can identify signals to watch and questions to revisit, but it does not watch anything by itself: people bring new observations and evidence back into the analysis.
How can I work with Phaseplane?
Currently through design partnerships: an introduction, then a case working session where there is a fit, then a scoped paid pilot. Scope and pricing depend on the organization, the case and the work involved.
Who operates Phaseplane, and how is client data handled?
Phaseplane is developed and operated by Aurion Dynamics, a company registered in the Netherlands. Before any client material is shared, the data-handling terms for the engagement are agreed, including a data processing agreement where Aurion Dynamics would process personal data on your behalf. Phaseplane is not intended for special categories of personal data.
